What is Gardenshare?
Gardenshare is a scheme to match people who would like to grow their own produce but who do not have a garden, with people whose gardens have become a little too big to manage, or who have a plot of unused land.

How does gardenshare work?
We will come to meet you and explain the scheme to you in full and you can then decide if it’s for you. If so, we will find out your preferences and try to match you with a person who fits your ideals.  When a match is made there are a few administrative details to be agreed to so that both grower and garden owner have peace of mind. Then it’s over to you!

What can you expect to get out of Gardenshare?
Gardenshare should be fun and beneficial for all concerned. On top of that, the garden owner can expect to receive an agreed proportion of the produce and the grower will have a piece of land to cultivate to their hearts content!

What should I NOT expect from Gardenshare?
Please note that gardenshare is not a gardening service! Growers will not be weeding for the owner!

What support can Transition North Berwick provide?
Within our community we have a great number of skilled people who have offered to support the scheme from advice on gardening to helping distribute extra produce.

We are buying a wheel hoe and soil blocker to ease the workload and we hope to get other tools to help get growers started. See our toolshare page.

Where are the gardens and what state are they in?
We have gardens offered from North Berwick to Aberlady and even as far as Gifford.  They vary from overgrown 'fields' to plots dug and ready to plant.  Please ask for an up to date list.

Where did Gardenshare start?

Gardenshare started in Totnes but spread quickly and is already up and running in other many parts of the country including our local region.  We hope Transition North Berwick gardenshare will give more people in our local area the opportunity to get in touch with each other.
